Registration is Open for 2018 Sporting Clay Classic
Registration is now open for the 2018 Saint John Paul II Academy Sporting Clay Classic. The SJPII Sporting Clay Classic is a beginner-friendly sporting clay tournament held at the beautiful Quail Creek Plantation and Sporting Clay facility in Okeechobee, FL. The event is shaping up to be bigger and better in its second year with a Friday-Saturday event date and more on-site accommodations.
Take a much needed break and head up on Friday afternoon. You can practice at the five-stand or take advantage of what the property has to offer. Evening festivities will begin with a happy hour followed by a gourmet steak dinner. We’ll cap off the night at a welcome party with music, drinks, games, and a beautiful fire pit. Our sponsorship packages reward those that register early with overnight lodging on the property and a country breakfast on the morning of the tournament for your team.
The competition will really heat up on Saturday where teams of 4 will compete in a 100-shot sporting clays tournament in a 14-station wooded course. Each team will get around in their own golf cart with scoring and instruction provided by the fine folks at Quail Creek. There will be plenty of games and opportunity for trash-talking during the event. As we tally up the scores, you’ll enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch and an opportunity to bid on a few special items. The day will end when we announce the winners at around 1:30 in the afternoon.
Friday – October 26, 2018
3:30 PM – Check in at the Sporting Clay grounds.
4:00 PM – Skills clinic with a Quail Creek Pro.
6:30 PM – Cocktails and happy hour at the Quail Creek Plantation Lodge.
7:30 PM – Gourmet steak dinner.
8:30 PM – Welcome party with games, raffle, and fire pit.
12:00 AM – Lights out – rest up for a fun-filled Saturday.
Saturday – October 27, 2018
8:00 AM – Country breakfast at the lodge for overnight guests.
8:30 AM – Registration opens for tournament-only participants. Coffee and pastries will be served. Team flurry and practice time at the five-stand.
9:20 AM – Mandatory safety meeting at the pavillion.
9:30 AM – Shotgun start.
12:30 PM – BBQ Lunch under the pavillion.
1:30 PM – Winners announced and raffle drawing.
There are many ways you can help ensure the success of this event through sponsorship and donation opportunities. This event is organized by the SJP Dads’ Club and proceeds from the tournament are used to strengthen the academic and athletic programs available at the school.
